Notable among Fayette County's documeted sites are historic Black churches like Mount Olivet Baptist Church and St. Paul AME Church in Uniontown, which served not only as places of worship but also as centers for civil rights organizing and community support. The county also contains locations believed to have been stops on the Underground Railroad, highlighting its role in the fight against slavery.
